The City of Rockwall has listed current watering restrictions to conserve water throughout the extreme periods of the North Texas drought as follows.
Watering permitted up to 2 times per week, as needed
There are no assigned watering days
Do not water between 10am – 6pm
Rockwall residents are urged to follow these guidelines and remember that watering is not allowed between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. This provides for the most efficient, cost-effective use of water purchased by customers. For more tips on how to practice conservation, visit the City’s conservation page at:
Let us install a sprinkler system for you so you don’t have to worry with trying to adhere to the watering restrictions. First Response Lawncare can set up an irrigation system that will automatically water on set day/times for you.
Installing a watering system helps your grass develop into the beautiful, healthy lawn you always wanted. Lawn irrigation systems are the most efficient way to make sure your yard gets the water it needs without over doing it.
Save Time: Irrigation systems work on their own, so no more wasting time manually watering. Now you have more time to do the things you love, while your lawn gets what it needs to thrive.
Save Money: The benefits of an irrigation system outweigh the initial cost of the system, which will pay for itself sooner than you think.
Save Water: Installing an irrigation system can conserve water while maintaining a healthy landscape.
Winterizing your irrigation system is a simple and fast process
Winterizing is important for maintaining a properly running lawn sprinkler system. Texas weather plays a big part in winter damage, but there are some simple things you can do to make getting through the cold seasons much easier. Even if it only freezes for an hour or two at a time when it does, then the first two steps should be enough to keep you safe from freezing temperatures.
Turn off the water main to the irrigation system
Set your irrigation controller to the “rain” or “off” setting.
Turn on each valve manually to release pressure in the pipes.
Drain water out of irrigation components that might freeze. (This is usually done at the lowest elevation point of the system)
Keep in mind that above ground piping and components will need additional care such as insulating the parts of the system that are exposing to freezing or heat trace tape designed to keep the pipes warm during freeze/thaw cycles.

If you haven’t already, now is the best time to have your irrigation system turned on. We are starting out this Spring with a lot of rain, but we can’t always depend upon abundant rain to water our lawns. It’s best to have your irrigation system ready to go.
Here are a few tips of when to water in the Spring season:
1. Water deeply and infrequently. You will want to water about 1/2 an inch of water twice per week.
2. Be sure to know what type of head each zone contains because rotor heads will need to go twice as long as pop-up spray heads. To get 1/2 an inch rotors should take approximately 30 minutes & pop-ups should take approximately 15 minutes.
3. Water early in the morning before your household wakes up and starts using water for the day. You can figure this out by calculating how long your total system will run and then subtract that from the time you will begin using water in the house. Best time to water is between 6-10 am. Avoid watering in the midday between 11am-3pm because the water evaporates quickly in the heat of the day. If you must water in the evening do so between 4pm-7pm. Do not water later than the sun goes down because you will risk getting fungus on your lawn.
4. As the days get longer and hotter in the approaching summer months, you will want to increase the frequency of your watering schedule. Keep watch on the weather and adjust accordingly.
We hope this helps & if you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to call us. Happy watering!
