If you haven’t already, now is the best time to have your irrigation system turned on. We are starting out this Spring with a lot of rain, but we can’t always depend upon abundant rain to water our lawns. It’s best to have your irrigation system ready to go.

Here are a few tips of when to water in the Spring season:

1. Water deeply and infrequently. You will want to water about 1/2 an inch of water twice per week.
2. Be sure to know what type of head each zone contains because rotor heads will need to go twice as long as pop-up spray heads. To get 1/2 an inch rotors should take approximately 30 minutes & pop-ups should take approximately 15 minutes.
3. Water early in the morning before your household wakes up and starts using water for the day. You can figure this out by calculating how long your total system will run and then subtract that from the time you will begin using water in the house. Best time to water is between 6-10 am. Avoid watering in the midday between 11am-3pm because the water evaporates quickly in the heat of the day. If you must water in the evening do so between 4pm-7pm. Do not water later than the sun goes down because you will risk getting fungus on your lawn.
4. As the days get longer and hotter in the approaching summer months, you will want to increase the frequency of your watering schedule. Keep watch on the weather and adjust accordingly.

We hope this helps & if you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to call us. Happy watering!
